Kayla and Austin’s March wedding at Camp Hosea was just one of those days where everything was effortlessly perfect. The vendors were incredible, and there were so many really sweet moments throughout the day that made it feel so special. Spring in Houston did its thing, and Camp Hosea did the rest!

If you haven’t looked into Camp Hosea as a Houston wedding venue yet, you need to put it on your list asap! The wallpaper alone is worth it. The whole space has this really warm and elegant vibe, and in the spring, that natural light coming through the venue is my favorite thing ever. It doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal. It feels like a space where people actually want to gather and celebrate, which is exactly what you want on a wedding day!
If you’re venue shopping in Houston right now, a few things are worth thinking about when you’re looking at spaces: how the light moves through the room throughout the day, if the venue has enough distinct spaces to give your day some variety, and if it feels like somewhere your people would actually want to hang out for a few hours. Camp Hosea checks all of those boxes really naturally. Kayla actually did her bridal portraits here before the wedding, too! Angelle’s Floral did such an incredible job, and the florals were everywhere in the best way. Full, gorgeous, and they popped so well against the neutral interiors of Camp Hosea. One thing I always tell couples when they’re planning their florals is to think about how they’ll interact with the space rather than just how they’ll look on their own. When the florals work with the venue instead of against it, the whole day feels more cohesive and intentional, and Kayla’s florals accomplished exactly that.

There’s something really special about a wedding day when the little moments are just as good as the big ones. The daddy-daughter first look absolutely got me; it was one of those moments where you just feel so lucky to be in the room.
Getting ready with Austin Chick Collective and Naturally Flawless had such a warm, easy energy to it; everyone was relaxed and happy and just so excited for the day ahead. Those getting-ready moments are ones I always want couples to make time for because they’re so fleeting and so worth having documented. By the time the ceremony came around, the whole day just had this really beautiful momentum to it that carried all the way through to the reception.

This is something couples don’t always think about enough when they’re planning, and it genuinely makes such a difference. When your vendor team is really good at what they do, you don’t have to think about any of it on your wedding day; you just get to show up and be present. DJ Low Key kept the reception going all night, and it was so amazing.
When you’re building your vendor team, look for people whose work you genuinely love. Then find people who communicate well and make you feel good. The energy your vendors bring into a room on your wedding day matters more than most couples realize until they’re actually in it. Kayla and Austin’s vendor team is a great place to start if you’re looking for recommendations in the Houston area!

One of the questions I get asked the most is how to structure a wedding day timeline, and Kayla and Austin’s day is a really great example of how to do it well. Getting ready took up a good chunk of the morning, which is honestly exactly how it should be. That time isn’t just hair and makeup, it’s the last quiet moments before the day really kicks off, and it’s worth protecting. Build in more time than you think you need because it always goes faster than expected. The last thing you want is to feel rushed before you’ve even walked down the aisle.
The daddy-daughter first look happened before the ceremony, and it was honestly one of my favorite moments of the whole day. If you’re on the fence about adding a first look with a parent, do it! It gives you a private moment with someone you love before everything gets loud and fast. It also takes the pressure off the ceremony aisle moment a little, which a lot of brides don’t think about until they’re actually standing there.

From there, the ceremony flowed into cocktail hour and then the reception, and because the timeline had breathing room built into every transition, nothing felt chaotic. DJ Low Key kept the reception energy going all night, and when the timeline is solid, the DJ gets to actually do their job instead of trying to make up for lost time.
A general rule of thumb: build your timeline backwards from your ceremony time, give yourself at least two hours for getting ready photos, and add fifteen-minute buffers between every transition. It sounds like a lot until you’re actually in the day, and you’ll be so glad you did it.
